    Windows Live Beta

Just downloaded and installed the new Windows Live Beta Apps. They look ok without being radically new. Messenger seems to have new dynamic pictures which double as smileys. Cool.

    Pegasus Bridge Terrain Board

Got this message from one of my fellow FoWers:

    "Boys,

Chucked up the pics tonight in the peg board thread and building thread.

The peg board pics look huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge!!!!!!!!!!!"

Our group is building a terrain board to play D-Day scenarios on that replicates the Pegasus Bridge Missions.

There is a good description of the action here. Below is a picture of the bridge in 1944.

    More Progress...

So today was a productive day after all.
    • I managed to basecoat 50+ Infantry in US Dark Green this morning.
    • Tonight I basecoated 104 US Infantry in M1942 pattern colours: brown violet helmet, Khaki Jacket and Field Drab trousers. Thats right, 104 figures...it was about 3 hours work but I am glad it is done.
    • Still haven't fixed the AA Gun Platform.
    • Still no piccies sorry! Sad

    Best intentions...

Well with all the best intentions I haven't got around to doing the other tasks yet.

I've been very busy with different functions and looking after the kids whilst on school holidays.

I have tomorrow off so I'm hopeful of tackling them then and maybe taking a few piccies as well. Open-mouthed

    Projects on the go...

I've made a bit of a resolution. Whilst looking through my draw of FoW figures I realised that I have the best part of 100 US Infantry and Crew to paint still, not to mention all the vehicles and tanks which are only basecoated. On top of that I have a British Airlanding Company consisting of 150 figures plus support and weapon platoons! Confused

So my resolution is this: I'm getting on with it.

Last night and tonight have been very industrious.

    Last night,

    • I painted 30 undercoated figures with khaki jackets and brown violet helmets.
    • I took a block of wood and drilled 12 holes that I could put large nails in. On the end of the nails will be figures I am painting. It's supposed to be easier to paint the figures that way. It was a tip on the Fow forum so I'll give it a go.
    • I also assembled an M15 SPAA Half Track although there are issues. The base of the AA gun is miscast. Consequently the shield on one side won't stick. I'll probably fix it with Green stuff at this stage.

    Tonight

    • I cleaned up 57 unpainted figures and then stuck them to a block of wood and undercoated them all in black.
    • I undercoated the M15 although one of the shields is still not on.
    • I took 37 partially painted figures and arranged them on bases. I am supposed to have 41 figures!

    Tomorrow night

    • Fix the base of the AA Gun with green stuff.
    • Basecoat the 57 undercoated figures in US Dark Green. They will be wearing M1943 Pattern LW Uniforms.

Still lots more to do after that but this is an organic plan at this stage Open-mouthed

    Kellevie 12/24 hour - March 29 2008

Did the Kellevie 24 Hours MTB enduro event on the weekend. I was in a team of 6 sponsored by Logica. There were approximately 290 competitors and in the category we were in we were a little outgunned by the opposition. Our team finished up 5th out of 6 teams. Having said that, the course was a blast and my team mates were a lot of fun to compete with. Hopefully I'll be able to put some photos up shortly. For now I am exhausted.

Telstra best for broadband, says ISP boss | Australian IT

Justin Milne reckons Telstra is the best placed communication provider to build Labour's high speed broadband network. Justin should know as he works for one of the largest ISPs in Australia. Any guesses as to which one? You're right, Justin is head of Bigpond - now that's a surprise!

    Magic Folder Vista Gadget

There's nothing revolutionary about most of the Vista Sidebar Gadgets I've come across. Generally the Yahoo Widgets and Google Gadgets have a much greater and diverse collection. But I came across the Vista Magic Folder Gadget which is incredibly useful. The summary is that you configure it to associate file extensions with folders. When you drag and drop a file on the gadget it will automatically put it in the right folder for you. So far it has been great. You can even set a watched folder list which it will automatically sort for you (eg maybe a downloads folder???). You can check it out at David's Space

Govt supports Pakistan tour postponement - ABC News (Australian Broadcasting Corporation)

OK call me a cynic but this is all very convenient given the start of the IPL. I wonder how the Australian players are going to deal with the start of the West Indies tour in May when they are playing for large sums of money. I am not sure that this model is sustainable long term....

    Away again...

Changed job 4 weeks ago, and for the 3rd time in 4 weeks I find myself travelling away...not that its that bad. The company puts me up in a nice apartment close to my work and the people are really nice.

Hopefully, I won't have too much more travelling to do...
